VECTOR STILO FINAL PIECE (BERIMBAU)
Berimbau is a musical instrument typical from capoeira, a fighting/dancing style from Brazil. The idea of designing a berimbau using a laser cutter came to me because the process of making one is still very artisanal, in which the capoeira masters are the ones who make them. During research, I found only one place that had taken it to a professional level, containing even a peg to tune the string.
My end result had the gourd completely laser cut, and I used the wood shop for the bow of the berimbau. Although I am pretty happy with the end result visually, the sound emitted by it is very low pitched. There are many aspects to be refined in order to improve that, starting with the wire I used as a string to changing the bow material to something less flexible, to actually adding a peg to be able to tune the string. But for a first experience making an instrument, and even rethinking a lot of its making process, I am happy with what I achieved.
