Almost decided not to post this image because of the cloud of engine smoke, but the pollution from the smoke is part of the story. Contemporary commercial fishing is another form of "resource extraction" with "externalized costs" (meaning that their profit depends in part upon taking from what belongs to all of us while dumping the cost of the consequent pollution upon citizens who must pay for it with their taxes. The Third Law of Ecology: There is no free lunch. The men loading the nets are just trying to make a living, of course.
