See any scar on the eye? Neither do I. The surgeon inserted a plastic lens a week ago. It was painless. I was awake. The IV drip kept me relaxed. Dr. Bailey, the surgeon gave me updates as she worked. The procedure took maybe 20 minutes.
You've seen videos of people, kids usually, who see or hear for the first time: when I removed the protective plastic cover from my eye, it was like that. I was stunned to see that everything (left eye) is sharp and clear! The world looks shockingly bright and new. Cataracts diffuse light and make the visual field sort of foggy. I would guess that my restored distance vision in my left eye is now perfect.
Remember Ponce de Leon looking in vain for the "fountain of youth" in what is now the state of Florida? This is what he was looking for. He knew that, like everybody else at that time, he would slowly go blind - and probably deaf as well.
@judello says to me, Too bad they can't do that for your hearing!
I look at her and cannot refrain from loudly asking - WHAT?
The right eye will be done on the 27th.
