The chaos that surrounds him is a reflection of what is going on inside of him. Because there is no difference between his inner life and his outer life, the surrounding chaos seems normal to him. An instigator and provoker, he does best as an improvisor rather than a planner, reacting to the chaos that he creates by repeatedly testing people, behaving inconsistently and seeing what he can get away with. He looks for opportunities amid the chaos that his behavior imposes. The goal is always to win. In the military, where discipline and structure would have kept him more in line he might have been a success, because unpredictability and his extreme competitive nature make him a ruthless enemy who improvises amid the chaos of combat, like George Patton, the difference being that Trump cannot read. He is illiterate and therefore ignorant. His inability to read forces him to depend upon people who will read for him, but he hates being briefed. As a businessman he is always at war. That's his business model. He is not a moral leader in the manner of other presidents, nor is he a manager. Do not expect to see him govern. He's a demagogue and a disruptor. He sees being President as engaging in a hostile takeover of an inefficient corporation, the federal government. His reward will be a some looting on the side and the opportunity to make some really big deals on an international level that would otherwise never be available to him. Not bad for a man who can't read, you may say, but it is likely that he will be remembered as a demagogue who proved to be an incompetent president.
