What's it like to be homeless? Owning a bike means that you can get around much more easily than without one, so maybe you feel just a little less helpless - until it breaks down and you have no place to repair it. On the other side of the street, in the light of the setting sun, people like me with smartphones and disposable income are eating, drinking talking and laughing. They don't look in this direction and don't notice homeless guys here in the gathering dark. I took this picture with my phone and did not ask their permission. Out of the frame on the right is another guy also working on his bike. When he saw me taking their picture, he pointedly spit in my direction.
