A request came from the Quaker meeting in Orlando, that Quakers everywhere hold simultaneous meetings at the same hour on the evening following the mass murder. @judello and I opened our home for that purpose and ten people sat in silence, holding in the light those who had died. In the midst of widespread grief and fear, we created a moment of stillness and safety, within which individuals shared experiences as the spirit moved them. For my own part, I remembered that across the country, there are more than a million young people - children really - homeless on the street, many of them living in exile from a family unable to tolerate their emerging sexual identity. While there may be nothing that I can do to help anybody who lives in Orlando, some of those young people are here where I live. Perhaps I can do something to help them.
