Problem and diagnosis. Nobody makes things anymore.
If one looks up words in the dictionary (x$ means the word ends in x for some given set x of characters, grepping is the relevant verb and $w is my dictionary), here's something that happens:
$ grep make$ $w
$ grep maker$ $w
There are lots of people who want to make things, but apparently none of that activity going on. Though there are bookmakers and watchmakers, there seems to be no way to "bookmake" or to "watchmake" ! And though everyone at ello seems to know there are makers doing the make-thing, there is unmaking and remaking going on, but no one apparently interested in doing either of those (no 'unmaker' or 'remaker' profession, methinks). There is more of this sillingu to come. #sillingu
Though largely silly, I did find it rather surprising that almost none of the 'maker$' words could be turned into 'make$' verbs. @jansegers @mikebristol @ellolanguages @booksnips
