I wonder if the @YourDailyBread community account (or its moderator @JoyComplex) ever made a post explaining what bread was all about. I'm sure he had/they have at one point. Without going into very precise details though rest assured that it is "ancient Ello lore" and (is well established) began with Germans posting bread in the comments because back then in
2016 2014 Ello didn't have a /Like button yet.
Spent about 30 minutes scrolling down the @YourDailyBread Ello profile before stopping myself remembering that I've got Real-World Responsibilities™ to attend to.
...Although one could handily argue that the Ello Discover stream is currently doing a lot of what the Your Daily Bread account was doing up to back in 2017.
Also: I've had it in my head on-n'-off to go to my Ello settings and turn off /Likes on my Ello profile, and to no longer hit the /heart on anyone's posts. And what I would do instead is I would instead go to the comments and:
1) actually type out some encouraging comments, and/or
2) I would write my honest-yet-respectful critique, and/or
3) I would just post a simple bread.
Have yet to actually pull the trigger on that plan though, not quite.
Watching the dramatic video docu-essay "The Social Dilema" produced recently by Netflix made me think about making this decision again for the past couple of days...
