Chakima Micheau (@ccmicheau)
A Bronx native, Chakima grew up during the 90's heavily influenced by Nicktoons, obsessed with Tinker Hatfield's innovative kick designs, and her Caribbean mom's stories about "back home". After learning how to apply her eye for shape and color at FIT and eventually graduating from SVA with a BFA in illustration in 2013. She's since moved on to painting and has begun to explore narrative pieces with her works centering around the parts of New York city life people seldom see within art works. The bodegas, the piragua man getting passed up for Mr. Softee's ice cream, the boys hawking candy on the trains, life before gentrification and so on.
