Okay, here's a head twister. Inspired by an anonymous drunk at the bar who told me he was.....
A Christian atheist.
His reasoning went like this; We know that the man, Jesus, the Nazarene, lived. There are official Roman records, as well as mentions in other, non-biblical texts. We know that the man espoused a certain philosophy which was quite easy to say.....but extremely complicated and difficult to live. For hundreds of reasons this man and his life has had a profound, and profoundly beneficial, influence on what we call Western Civilization for two thousand plus years. One need not believe in the "divine" aspect...Son of god and all that....to believe that living the man's philosophy, or trying to, makes the world a better place.
You may have guessed that his comments touched off a lively debate.
