I was born in a river; swimming against the current would send you violently hurdling towards the rocks. In 2017, I focused on the poetics of place. This cloud of nostalgia, romanticism, brutality, and humidity that looms over me does not fog my vision, but rather enhances it, the same way chemical or physical distortion can enhance the composition of a negative.
Ether is my drug of choice; I use photographic alchemy to process emotions just as one would use it to process film. The notion of photography is redolent with the past. Each negative is treated to the environment from which it was exposed in: I manipulate my negatives chemically, with household substances, and physically, with needle and thread, to create an evidential force of pain, love, longing, loss, and nostalgia frozen in 36x24mm.
Born in Georgia but now living and working in Brooklyn, NY, Delamure is an analog photographer fascinated by the relationship between psychological and photographic chemistry.
