This shot was taken outside of the New York Times building. It's a really beautiful space, with simple accents of color and horizontal bars along the exterior. The title, as well as the photo itself, is a play on the work of Kathy Ryan, who is the photo editor at New York Times Magazine. She released a book last year, Office Romance: Photographs from Inside the New York Times Building, which features some amazing photos of all the shadowplay within the building's walls. If her work is an office romance, then mine is a longing gaze from afar, a missed connection.
I plan on sending her a print of this piece, since she was kind enough to like and comment on it when I posted it to my Instagram page.
This was shot on my phone, by the way. Taken with the HTC 10, processed in Lightroom from the digital negative.
