I remember getting this cup for my brother when I lived on the East Coast in 2009/2010. We grew up in the days of Cheers and I knew he’d love it and I was right. We loved each other hard core and this was a sentimental memento from his little sister who was moving about the country like a gypsy so he never used it for fear something would happen to it.
When my brother died in 2011, I found this mug amongst his things and knew right away it was coming home with me. I did the same thing he did, it was now a memento of his existence so I stored it in a curio cabinet, never using it, for fear something would happen to it.
We bought this house back in September and while I was unpacking I came across this mug but this time I couldn’t put it back in the curio. This time, a voice said USE IT! Use it and every time you drink from it, remember me. So now when I have morning coffee, I like to take a few minutes and remember having coffee with my brother in the mornings.
Life is so short and never promised, whether it’s your decision to leave, someone else's or a greater energy, we don’t know how long we have!
We want to be around as long as possible and none of us want to be miserable and unhappy the entire time. None of us want to be left known as the always grumpy, angry, bitch. Take care of yourself! Make time for you, your physical health, and your mental health. Sweat through it, grow, become a better you. The hardest part is taking the first step but I believe in you even if you don’t believe in yourself.
