Photography - Hamburg "Green Table Dinner"
Yesterday @meechoon and I had the pleasure to experience one of the top gourmet events in our city, The "Green Table Dinner". It's an event organised by a cook I've known for years in cooperation with an organic market with delivery system and a few stores in the city. All the food and drinks at the dinner were organic and of the highest quality. We had a great time enjoying a 7 course menu with plates we never tasted before, things that surprised and creations that amazed us.
I only took a few shots during the evening 'cuz the main focus was having dinner with @meechoon. You might also notice that I did not include any pictures of the food and the reasons are simple. If I am not getting paid, I will avoid taking photos of food and furthermore it seems to me that foodphotography of food made with so much thought & creativity should be treated accordingly in shooting it; just the same way you would do with other art.
Using the train became rare for me and I took the opportunity this time to take a few B&W streetshots on 35mm using the reflections of the window to create a somewhat unreal scenario.
There is only 20 seats per dinner and you cant just buy a ticket. It's one of those things where you have to know someone that knows someone. If you are in Hamburg hit me up and I get you a seat if you want (It is a great event with fantastic food). Sitting on one table helps the situation a lot as most people don't know each other and that way you get more of a special family dinner vibe. You also get to know people quite well over a long evening and noone is waiting for you to leave to make room for the next guest waiting at the bar. This shot was taken just before the first course and you can see the kitchen team working in the back and people being excited for the first course. I like the way this shot turned out because it captured the enjoyable atmosphere quite well.
Here is a portrait of @meechoon at that evening. She almost always looks fantastic and it's incredibly easy to get good shots with her.
Here is a shot of what I think is the middle or the main dish and everyone at the table seemed to love it although some meaties were getting jealous for the veggie dish as well.
The last moments of the dinner with the whole team standing in front of the guests. They really earned their applause. The chef was always around to answer questions as well as the sommelier; the service was awesome as well!
The following few shots are a little more artsy. I hope you all had great weekend and maybe a great dinner as well! tell me 'bout it!
