A walk along the river from Purley-on-Thames brings you level with Hardwick House, a wonderful Elizabethan manor built during the 1500's on the site of an earlier dwelling that dated back to the 11th century. The house was bought by Sir Charles Day Rose in 1909, a friend of the author Kenneth Grahame from nearby Pangbourne. It is thought that Charles Day Rose was the inspiration for Toad in Grahame's 'Wind in the Willows', and that Hardwick represents Toad Hall.
Shots taken using the Pentax K1, we had a nice sunset there too.
