On the drive up County Road 7 on the 2nd morning of the 2017 Colorado Fall Color Tour, you could see the snow covered peaks in the blueness prior to first light. This helped to build up excitement for a location that really did not need any help - of course, I didn't know that until we parked and took up positions on the opposing hillside to Mt. Sneffels, part of the Sneffels Mountain Range.
The basin below was a great contrast to the rocky, snow-covered mountain and the clouds were absolutely perfect, except they did keep the sunlight from blanketing those peaks. We waited and waited, but it never happened. Still, without the light on the peak, it was magnificent!
A fantastic way to start our first morning in the Ouray area!
