Also, I really wish I knew more
bash than I know. I have an idea for what I want to do, but not yet the ability.
My previous plan relied on @leynos'
el-takeaway script. Script runs, backs up Ello, posts x-posted that way. The reason for that is that I tried to understand the
el-takeaway script and failed miserably. The world's easier to understand in python. ;)
How I'd like to do things:
cron job keeps a record of the latest post at last run. It fires a quick check off once every n minutes; on an update it reads the updated post into memory, makes a note of the new post id, and fires off a bunch of cross-poster scripts that do the needful with the post. No need to touch the disk or keep a local backup.
I am, of course, only thinking about this now to put off other things (redlining, finishing the dreamwidth Ello importer).
