We set our sights on the glorious larches and planned our hike accordingly. In northern Washington, they were just starting to turn. Pops of yellow and lime green color freckled the mountain side. We were certain the view was going to be spectacular at the top. But the higher we continued to climb, the more we continued to get socked in by clouds. By the time we reached the top it started to storm, and we were left to set up our tent in the heavy snow. In the morning we woke to a blanket of white. We waited at the top again for the sun to break through, but it didn’t. As we began to hike back down, it finally burnt its way through the fog // 17.09.30
