Cartography, Organic, Random
(Oil on plywood, 94.5cm x 75.7cm, Dirk Marwig 2013)
-“I have always loved maps. Without thinking I began scratching thousands of lines all over the plywood board and added some colour until a landscape seen from space appeared. Then I imagined all the spectacular landscapes or places I've ever visited and slowly began to organize the chaos into mountains, plains, rivers, lakes, villages and cities with my kind of congruency. Every day I would imagine myself in a location on the"map" and begin working from there.
