Human Vault Male (Oil and Bic-pen on canvas, 51cm x 82.5cm, Dirk Marwig 2015)
*This is the ‘male’ version of the messy and sweaty “Human Vault”…....
-I love to work with Bic-pens. It’s fun and the smeary blue ink has a special quality that I like. Again the DNA of the painting is based on the “Golden Section”.
This is also one of the "cheapest" paintings I've ever done: I built the stretcher from an old hazardous wooden folding chair, the canvas was a rest cut from a large painting, the oil wash and highlights were very diluted and the Bic-pen is very inexpensive, as you know.
Human Vault Female (Oil and Bic-pen on canvas, 82.5cm x 51cm, Dirk Marwig 2015)
*This new painting is a ‘two for one’ deal. If you hang it upright, then that would be the ‘female’ perspective view. If you hang it horizontally then you have the ‘male’ version. Both ways it ‘works’ and both ways it’s strong but in a totally different way.
