Mt. Fitzroy, El Chalten, Argentina
In January 2019, me, Jacky, and a Spanish dude named David I met at a hostel in Santiago a few days prior all decided to throw in on renting a camper van for a 1 way trip through Patagonia that lasted about 5 weeks. Jacky and I opted to sleep in our tents and battle the Patagonia winds during the trip while David did not have any camping gear so he slept in the van. Our favorite place during those 5 weeks was by far El Chalten. The weather here is extremely unpredictable. One minute it can be sunny and beautiful then 1 minute later you're caught in white-out blizzard conditions. The only thing that was consistent while we were here was the hurricane force winds. We met a guy in El Chalten who had just climbed to the top of Fitzroy and he was telling to us during his climb to the top he saw 4 dead bodies along his climb! We only stayed here 2 nights before moving on, but at some point I fully intend to come back to this place and spend more time here. There's so much to see in Patagonia.
