The street artist BLU has made a very powerful murales on the walls of an ex OPG, Ospedale Psichiatrico Giudiziario, (Forensic Psychiatric Hospital), that was closed down 8 years ago due to a reform of the law that regulates this type of institution.
People interned in this type of hospital received very bad treatments, the conditions were barbaric, people were just stuffed with psychopharmacological drug and left to their own destiny, there weren't any type of rehabilitations, human rights were often not respected at all, making them live in a dirty rooms, turning their lives into an everyday loop of sufference, rage, and hopeless that got every day worse and worse, heavier and heavier like the glitches in this video made of loops.
Some years ago that building was occupied by a group of collectives that have since then started to use its spaces for social activities helping many people in need and giving that space a decent dignity and an useful purpose...and a new life.
The history of that building is still impregnated in its walls, especially in the cells were people were left there all days without any aims. On the walls of a cell, during a visit, we saw the scripts of a person that was probably closed in there for some time. They were messages of hope, of redemptions, like the murales made by BLU after many years today. That person had a name, Vincenzo, and we dedicate this video to him, wherever he is now, hoping that he found a better life.
Thanks to BLU for the fantastic artwork, thanks to the people of "Je So' Pazzo" for the works they put and still putting in that space that has brought a new light of hope and energy to the city of Napoli.
