XMAS MALWAREZ (Mrs Clause - Dorf-AE worm)
It’s XMAS time and we are all gonna be very good and nice…but some will be naughty, maybe spreading virus all over the web! XMAS is seen by many as a great occasion for some cyber action, trolling and infecting the not very careful netizens. There is a long history of xmas malwarez and I will post some malwarez graphic art glitch remixes until xmas day! It is not a celebration of malwarez but it’s firstly an attempt to share knowledge about malware history, but also make you a bit more aware about malware and their UI/UX design and maybe recognize a dangerous email from a safe one. Recognized as a very primitive form of AI, love it or hate it, malwarez are part of the history of computer and internet.
Lets start with Mrs Clause W32/Dorf-AE
It was Christmas 2007 when this virus hit its victims. Dorf-AE worm (also known as the Storm worm) invited people via email to click on a link to see Santa’s girls doing a striptease for you. Using the best of malwarez UX, the email had subject line such as “Your Secret Santa”, “Santa Said, HO HO HO”, “Warm Up this Christmas” and “Mrs. Clause Is Out Tonight!” but the email didn’t have any special present for you to enjoy on xmas day!
