Hello everyone, it’s me, Jim!! I’ve managed to confiscate the computer from Rosie so I thought I’d say hello! Actually, Rosie has been sent to her bed for eating Scratchy’s food again, so she’s in the dog house haha!! Anyway, what should I tell you? We are in Shropshire (http://www.westleyhousefarm.co.uk/index.html)….never been here before…..its quite wet and muddy, so I love it! We are on a hard standing pitch though so mummy is happy. Although daddy had some difficulty parking Pebbles as we are at the end of the campsite and we ran out of road. But never fear, daddy was to the rescue with the front tow bar, so we pitched, in the pouring rain. Even Scratchy looks miserable watching the pheasants out of the wet window. Best not tell Roise about the pheasants, or she’ll be after them!! (mummy missed the pheasants in the photo….just can’t get the staff!)
Seeing’s it’s Sunday, we thought we’d make the most of the weekend and went for a drive to Long Mynd, which took forever down all these country lanes, but when we got there we went for an epic walk!! It was really windy but not too rainy and we walked for hours. We got really wet and muddy and mummy spent ages trying to get all the mud off me. I don’t get it, I like mud, I’m trying to collect mud. Why does mummy keep taking it away from me?? This was the view from the top!
On Monday we were really tired and rumour had it we were going to go for a long drive to see a man about satellite internet for daddy’s work. Me and Rosie didn’t like that idea for two reasons; we hate the car, and we hate daddy working! We put up a protest and refused to get out of bed!
It didn’t work though and soon we were off to Birmingham to see the man. On the way back we stopped off at Wreakin Hill which was good fun. Daddy had spotted it on the way to the campsite on Saturday so we decided to go and climb the hill. It was very steep and slippery and muddy!! The views were amazing though
Tuesday was really bad weather so really boring and we just stayed at the site. Rubbish! So, to make up for it, on Wednesday we got up really early and went for a short drive to the Stipping Stones. Can you guess? It was very windy, wet and Muddy!!! The views were rubbish too and I think mummy had a sense of humour failure as it was quite hard going, up the top, as the footpath was really slippery. By the time we got back to the car the weather was improving but no one liked my idea of going back up as they were all soaked! No sense of adventure!
On Thursday mummy spent most of the day doing the washing, so we eventually went for a short drive to Pontesford Hill. I’m liking all the hills, I think I like Shropshire! The weather was better, but it was still very slippery and mummy and daddy may have slipped over a few times coming down the hill. I tried my best not to laugh, but in truth I was pulling on the lead extra hard to see if I could help them fall over hehe!!
Friday was more washing and then a walk to Rodney’s Pillar. We sure are getting lots of walks in whilst we are here. We just made it to the top for the sunset,
and we could see all the surrounding areas that were flooded from up there. It really has been wet!
Oh my days, oh my days, I’m so excited, it’s Saturday, so one of the best days of the week and we went to Wales and it had snowed!! This is me showing everyone how excited I am about the snow! Even Rosie was excited!
We went for a really long walk, all around the Kerry Ridgeway and Cilfaesty Hill which was knee deep in snow and really sunny. To be honest, I’m not sure the walk was supposed to be that long, but not knowing the area, the footpaths were all covered in snow so I think we got a bit lost at times, but daddy navigated us back with the aid of the iPhone!
We came across some sheep in the snow and I don’t think they liked us as they came marching towards us. Maybe they wanted to play….or eat us?? We ran away!
After all that excitement, on Sunday we decided to take it easy, so after a lazy morning we headed out to Corndon Hill which is just inside Wales and wasn’t too muddy, but no snow! This is the view to Snowdonia which had snow
and this is looking back to England. It was a nice long walk and we were very tired
On Monday we decided to rest whilst daddy worked and mummy went shopping, then on Tuesday daddy did lots of chores in the rain and then we went to Snailbach woods which did have a hill but not many views, so mummy only took selfies of her and daddy in the rain. On Wednesday we went back to Pontesford Hill as its close and daddy liked the butchers in Pontesford.
On Thursday we went back to Stipperstones, it wasn’t raining but it was very cloudy! It was still quite difficult to walk along the top, but we did go further this time!
On Friday we went for a lovely walk from a place called The Bog, it was really nice and mummy found a waterfall, but we finished the walk going through some not so nice farmland and roads. Better route planning needed daddy, especially as daddy’s phone battery died half way round and when we got back it turned out all his customers were screaming as the internet was down. Oops!! By the time we got back the internet was back up again, so panic over, but it did mean poor Jaimie had to step in and try to help everyone!
So it’s Saturday, and my favourite day of the week, and what do we do? Sit in the car for hours and hours upon end!! We went to visit a good friend, Pete, but it was hours away and then when we did get out, after they had all had a late lunch, it was pouring with rain, so we got drenched!! Then we had to sit in the car all wet for the long journey home. It was lovely to see Pete but please don’t rain next time! We did however get to see a nice sunrise at the campsite as we left early!
To make up for the long day in the car yesterday, mummy and daddy took us back to Long Mynd for a walk. There was a slight issue. The wind was terrifying and it was raining. Everything was blowing away as mummy and daddy tried to get their boots on. We all had our waterproof coats on, but we got half way up and Rosie said no more! It wasn’t much fun, so we decided to come back down again and try a lower route. We’d seen a waterfall advertised so we headed out to it. It wasn’t the nicest walk in the conditions and Rosie kicked off a lot, but eventually we got there, and I don’t know about you, but I think it was overrated!
Monday it rained all day again, so we went back to Snailbach woods in an attempt to stay dry, and it did kind of work, however, we wanted to stay in bed!
Well, that’s all folks, we are moving on today. It’s been lovely chatting to you all, I’m sure Rosie will be back at the helm next time, if she’s not in the doghouse again! See you all soon. Love, licks and mud, Jim xxx
