North Uist Again – This time with Nanny!
After the wind had died down, we packed up and headed over to North Uist and our favourite campsite, Moorcroft (http://www.moorcroftholidays.co.uk). When we got there, Iain & Catriona had kept our favourite space reserved for us and Nanny!
The campsite is on a tidal bay and the tide was out, so we headed out to explore
We had fun playing ball, but when I got tired I stole the ball thrower from mummy so she couldn’t throw the ball anymore!
Then we went back home for cuddles
and scratchy tried to join in too!
On Tuesday mummy took nanny on a tour of North Uist and then we all went to Vallay to walk on the tidal bay out to Malacleit beach
We eventually got to the beach but we did have to paddle quite deep across a river! Nanny really shouldn’t have worn her shoes and socks through the river, but she seemed happy!
We all played lots on the beach
And then we thought we better head back as the tide was coming in and that river was getting deeper! We eventually found a spot to cross that wasn’t too deep, but it was still knee deep, which for me is very deep!
On Wednesday, nanny decided to get up early and go on an otter walk and leave Harley & Belle with us. This was fine by us as it meant we could stay in bed!
When nanny got back, she was a little disappointed that they had only seen one otter in the very, very distant and she didn’t have any binoculars! However, she did see some deer running towards the river and then they crossed the river which she said was great to watch.
Then we went for a walk to Clachan Sands, but it was raining….a lot! It wasn’t too bad as we walked out along the beach, but the heavens opened as we got to the far end. Nanny didn’t seem to mind and played ball with Harley & Belle, however me and mummy had other ideas and walked very quickly back to the car to dry off. Eventually when nanny got back, we headed home to warm up!
On Thursday we headed back to the beach by Malacleit, but this time walked over from Greinetobht. Last time we were here, it was really sunny, not so lucky today!
Friday was our last day on the islands, before we headed back on Saturday. Mummy decided to celebrate by doing some washing…yay! Then we went to our favourite beach at Berneray to say goodbye.
Jim really loves this beach
It was sad to say goodbye but mummy and daddy promised we would be back soon. We then went out for dinner to the Westford Inn, which mummy highly recommends. Unfortunately, we were sat next to a very loud and annoying young couple, who both had to be right about everything and who I think nearly split up at least once during the evening. That was fun! Other than that, the food was fab as always!
So then it was Saturday, and a very sad day indeed. Nanny went to check out Baile Sear, as she hadn’t been there yet, whilst mummy & daddy went to catch up with Iain & Catriona. They had a lovely cuppa and chat, before we packed up and headed back to Lochmaddy to catch the ferry. I was sulking as I didn’t want to leave! Until next time, love & licks, Rosie xxx
