Kintyre - with Nanny
So we set off from Loch Lomond, leaving nanny behind to go and collect her car and headed for Carradale Bay (http://www.carradalebay.com). The plan was nanny would drive to Glasgow, pick up her repaired car, then get back to Loch Lomond to collect her caravan and then head to Carradale Bay too. However, Honda had other ideas, and couldn’t get her car fixed after all. They needed another part which wouldn’t be there until Wednesday. As you can imagine, nanny was not very happy with this, so they agreed to get it fixed Tuesday morning. So that meant nanny had an extra day with the midgies in Loch Lomond. When we got to Carradale bay, we were so relaxed by the general atmosphere of the place that mummy and daddy pitched Pebbles and mummy then took us down to the beach.
What mummy then remembered on the way back from the beach was we hadn’t filled the tank up with water. Oops! It was a long way to the tap, so we had to hitch Pebbles back up and go and fill up with water. Then when they re-pitched Pebbles, they forgot to get her level front to back. This place is amazingly relaxed but maybe mummy and daddy shouldn’t have relaxed until after Pebbles was pitched correctly! The view from the pitch was amazing, just a strip of grass between us and the beach. Perfect!
Then we all went for a walk on the beach and saw two seals playing together. It was amazing but mummy didn’t have her big camera with her. Typical!
Then a storm started to come in, so we sat outside under the awning, eating cheese and biscuits and drinking whisky, watching it come in across the bay and over the hills. It really was a magical first day at Carradale Bay. Even Jim was relaxed and gave a daddy a lovely cuddle
We went for a run first thing on Tuesday and when we got back we heard that Nanny’s car was fixed! She is heading to Carradale Bay…wahoo!! Whilst we waited for her to arrive, we went to Carradale village to have a look round and we saw another seal! Tiny black dot in the photo!!
Then we watched the sunset with Nanny
and Jimmy had another cuddle with daddy!
After all the excitement I decided to rest on Wednesday
However, Jim had other ideas when we went for a walk on the beach
Even Scratchy was chilled out and decided to come out for a walk
In the evening, daddy decided we should cook dinner on the beach. I liked the view
Daddy is very good with his one pot wonders, and we are very careful not to knock it over. At least we don’t knock them over anymore. We have set a few blankets on fire over the years!
On Thursday Colin brought us round a huge delivery. What I hadn’t realised was, that on Monday night, whilst watching the storm, daddy had ordered an inflatable kayak and all the trimmings. After our semi successful trip at Loch Lomond and then talking to Keith & Joyce next door to us, he had been persuaded that a kayak would be a great idea and here it was, in all its glory!
We even had doggie life jackets!
Nanny had gone out for a walk, but when she got back, we headed down to Campbeltown to find a whisky distillery. We stayed in the car but mummy, daddy and nanny had a great time selecting some distillery manager samples and they even had to sign them out of the cage they were kept in.
Then we went for a drive to the Mull of Kintyre and had a walk on the beach. When we got back it was a little chilly so we put our jumpers on
Jims jumper isn’t as obvious as mine as it blends in. Also his seems to be a lot warmer. I’m protesting to get one like Jims.
On Friday, mummy’s new Macbookpro died so she wasn’t very happy as it had taken daddy ages and lots of attempts to set it up for her and after 4 days it had died. After a lengthy phone call with Apple she seemed a bit happier so we went out to play on the kayak.
Then we relaxed and watched the sunset and daddy started to get a sore throat. He blamed it on a couple they had met in the toilets the other night who were really ill but insisted on talking to them both about everything and anything and spreading their germs!
On Saturday daddy was really ill but mummy made him some scrummy food and got him to man up, so we kayaked over to the beach on the other side of the bay. It was actually quite good fun. This was the view across to Arran.
This was the view back to the main Carradale beach
On Sunday mummy and daddy were both feeling very ill and it was raining a lot. Nanny had packed up early as she had to go home and it was a long drive. After she left we relaxed and had lots of cuddles to help mummy and daddy feel better from their man flu.
Even the main track was flooded, but we still went for a paddle on the beach in the rain!
On Monday mummy and daddy were both still very ill but we had to pack up as we were moving on to Mallaig. Time for them to man up! Until next time, love & licks Rosie xxxx
