So we arrived at our new campsite, Rhosgadw Farm near St David’s (http://www.campingstdavids.co.uk). It was a lovely site with three resident dogs who, I am told, were lovely and very well behaved. Better than us apparently, but I can’t believe that. They were called Fred, the older collie (sorry no pic as he didn’t stay around much!), Wilfe a collie,
and Jack a young collie cross who showed no interest in sheep apparently!
Jim had great fun playing with them, when he wasn't scared of them, that is! I stayed out of their way, I don't do playing with dogs!
We went straight into St David’s and had an ice cream, but when we tried to go to Whitesands Bay it was no dogs until 1st October. Luckily it was going to be the 1st in a few days so we weren’t too upset.
On Sunday, we went for a lovely walk along the coastal path, but first daddy wanted to climb a small hill called Penberry, and we had some wonderful views back to St David’s Head
Jim was quite excited about the views.
When we reached the coastal path, we could hear some strange noises, a bit like whales but we couldn’t see anything, but the views of all the coves were fantastic
A little bit further on the path we found out what the noise was…..there were seals and baby seals everywhere! All the coves had them and they were calling out to their mums. Porth-Gwyn had the most, there were about 10 babies there
I started to get bored, so eventually mummy stopped taking photos of the seals and we bumped into a lovely couple, Barbara and David. They were very knowledgeable about the seals and the whole area so mummy and daddy talked to them for ages about where else they could walk, and which mountains we could climb in Snowdonia. They had lots of information, although some sounded scary as the mountains were ridges and I don’t like heights (nor does mummy!)
We carried on towards St David’s Head and started to see the beaches we were heading for for.
This is Whitesands Bay and you can just see Port Lleuog.
But we were heading for Portmelgan (far left cove in the pic above), which was beautiful. Mummy and daddy had come prepared this time, with their swimming costumes, so they went in for a swim. We watched from the beach, as usual. The tide was coming in though and they nearly had their clothes cut off from the rest of the beach so we didn’t stay long. Besides, we still had a long way to go to get home!
Daddy took us up another big hill on the way back, called Carn Hen, which had a lovely view to St David’s
On Monday we went for a lovely walk on the beach, and then we were privileged with a beautiful sunset, back at camp
Pebbles looked lovely in the sun set
On Tuesday we went for a run along the Coastal path that we walked on Sunday, and then there was the obligatory swim on the beach and press-ups at the top of the hill! So on Wednesday we took it a bit easier, and went for a walk on Newgale Beach which we had been to last week.
Scracthy wanted to go exploring too, so mummy put his harness on and took him for a walk around the campsite
I think it was a bit too much for Scratchy though, as on Thursday, he was very tired!
We went for a run again on Thursday, but this time we headed out towards Aberiddi Bay, but we were quite late leaving, so we didn’t make it that far, so no swimming today! There were lots of cows and sheep at the site so we made friends with some of them!
and then we had another amazing evening watching the sun go down, followed by the shooting stars!
On Friday Scratchy decided he really liked this campsite, so he escaped out of the van. It was quite funny as he was so scared he didn’t know what to do! He just hid under the van and eventually daddy got him back, which surprised me, as daddy doesn’t overly like King Cat, so I thought he would be happy for him to runaway! After all the excitement, we went back to Newgale Sands and walked along the beach whilst the sun went down.
Then we went to The Shed at Porthgain to get posh fish and chips, which was very tasty and meant mummy didn’t have to do any washing up! Off we go again….until next time, Love and Licks, Rosie xxx
