More BEACHES!! – Milford Haven, South Wales
We didn’t go too far this time, which was good as we hate the car, we get very scared and don’t like to get in. When we arrived there were some lovely people to meet us at the campsite and they all made a fuss of us. I jumped out the car window to run over and say hello, but mummy didn’t think that was such a good idea.
After we were set up, we decided to check out the local beach, Sandyhaven, which we could walk to, followed by a bbq to watch the sun go down. When it was dark all these frogs came out and were hopping across the grass as there were a couple of ponds on the farm. They were really weird. We weren’t sure whether to catch them or not, so we just sniffed them and watched them hop away.
Then on Sunday, we went for a walk around Milford Marina followed by a drive to all the local beaches to choose our favourite one. We went to Marloes Sands which was really big and lots of fun. Then we walked around Martins Haven and then went on to Little Haven, but the tide was coming in and there was a kite on the beach, so we didn’t go on to Broad Haven. We liked Marloes the best!
On Wednesday we got up very early and went for a run. Apparently we had to time it right with the tides, so that we could get across Sandyhaven Pill, and we ran the coast path to Lindsway Bay, which was very pretty. You can’t get there by road, which is why we ran there, apparently. Mummy fell over again, on the run, and hurt herself, so daddy held our leads so mummy could try and stay up right. Apparently we don’t help with that! It was ok though as we had a paddle and mummy and daddy had a swim when we got back to Sandyhaven.
On Thursday we decided to try Little Haven and Broad Haven again. It was much better this time as the tide was out and there weren’t any kites for me to chase! Instead there were lots of students which were on a university trip. We took a liking to them as they had food. However, Jim made a bit of a boo boo….”apparently not everything on the beach is suitable for peeing on….in particular, people do not take kindly to this”…..thanks Jim! That got us put back on the leads rather sharpish, as mum & dad walked away very quickly!
After escaping from all the students, incidentally all the other students found it highly amusing, we went further North and found another Beach called Newgale Sands. Yet another gorgeous beach. The tide was coming in by now and when we had finished our walk, the beach had almost gone! It was lovely though and there was a kite surfer there so I had lots of fun trying to chase him!
On Friday we went back to Marloes for a picnic. Mummy and daddy were a bit miffed as this time there was a parking attendant and we had to pay £5 to park. That’s a lot of biscuit money! Anyway, we still went for our picnic, but we had got the tides wrong so there wasn’t much beach so we couldn’t walk very far. Instead daddy decided to go for a swim, but he hadn’t brought any swim shorts with him, so he went in, in his pants! It was very funny. It was such a lovely day and mummy got jealous of daddy swimming, don’t know why as we hate the water, so mummy decided to go in too, in her underwear! Then we sat on the beach whilst they dried off.
It was a lovely afternoon and the perfect way to end the week. We really enjoyed staying at Woodykiln Farm, the site was lovely and the owners were really friendly. When we left they were putting some hard standing pitches and a driveway in. Jim didn’t want to leave as he kept chewing through his lead whilst daddy was packing up. We can’t wait to go back and see them again soon. Oh and visit our favourite beaches, of course! Lots of love, Rosie xxx
