Well it looks like we are getting ready to move, but there appears to be an issue with emptying the tanks… in theory an easy job... however it looks like Daddy wasn’t up to it. Despite having only just replaced the tank valves as part of the refit – and apparently hoping not to have to see them again for many years – someone (wasn’t us) used the wrong toilet paper, and subsequently jammed the black tank valve…. Thus resulting in Daddy (Mummy was wisely having nothing to do with this!) having to get rather familiar with the tank and valve again… he was not happy – and he did smell a bit for a while! (This is not an image anyone needs to see – so here is a picture of us!)
Anyway, we eventually left and were on the road, which meant we had to be in close proximity to Scratchy as he rides in the back with us, so I kicked up a fuss and got to travel on mummy’s lap and left Jim in the back to deal with the cat (AKA Stinky Bum!).
When we got to the campsite there were lots of shiny Airstreams everywhere. All different sizes and there were loads of lovely people so we made sure we said hi to everyone and got lots of attention. Everyone was really nice especially Gaynor and Carl who lived there and let us all come and stay for the weekend. Very kind of them to let us in, especially Stinky Bum!
There were some other dogs there too, we particularly liked Dougal. His dad, Andrew, rode a motorbike and Dougal went on the back with him….that looked really scary but he seemed to love it. (photo borrowed from facebook (Belgium meet) as mum didn’t get a photo…cos she’s useless!)
In the evenings we set fire to huge tree trunks for a bonfire and talked until the small hours…..OK I admit it, as soon as I got cold, I made a fuss so mummy took us back home to the central heating, cos I hate being cold….and wet…..and hungry…..and dirty….and….ok I’m just a diva, I admit it…..but I was cold and the van was nice and warm, and I could eat Scratchy’s dinner whist no one was looking!
Some of the other campers played music and sung for us in the afternoons, they were very good, unlike mummy! It was such a lovely atmosphere and we had some lovely walks across the fields. Apparently there were lots of other walks for us to go on, but daddy worked a lot so we couldn’t go. Mummy says we will do those walks next year. We can’t wait!
On Sunday daddy tried to have a coffee with his breakfast. Now we know coffee isn’t good for him so we did our best to stop him. Our first attempt involved me knocking it over trying to catch a fly. Daddy wasn’t impressed and promptly made himself another one. Hmmmm.... We needed to up our game. This time I got dumb dog (AKA Jim) to chase a wasp, but being dumb dog he actually stood in the coffee. This turned out to be a bad idea, as the coffee was boiling hot and Jim badly scalded his foot and leg, so mummy had to keep putting cold water on it. I’ve never heard a boy dog cry so much in my life. Man Up Jim Jam!! So when daddy made a third cup we decided to give up and let him drink it. We’d tried our best to save him from the evil coffee but we could do no more!
So daddy had his cup of coffee in peace and then…….suddenly, from nowhere, there was something flying in the sky. Now I’m not one to brag, but I’m pretty nifty when it comes to killing flying things. You should see me against a hot air balloon or kite, they have no chance. Now, I’ve not seen one like this before, it was bigger than the helicopter mummy got daddy once for Christmas. That lasted about 5 seconds before I killed it, mainly due to daddy’s poor flying skills as he crashed it, but a kill, is still a kill! I really don’t understand why mum and dad get so cross with me doing this, it is my duty as a dog and their protector to save them from these flying objects, so I just ignore them. Jim leaves it to me to get the job done, as he realises he is of no use when I’m on the case. Unless of course it’s a fly or wasp, then he joins in, bless him, he can only handle the small things in life! Anyway, it wasn’t long before Mark put his drone thing away as he soon realised I was going to win. Spoilt all my fun!
Sunday was a very late night as mummy and daddy didn’t come home till nearly two in the morning as they had been talking to people all night. Jim and I came home about nine as I was cold! I think daddy had been drinking, as that’s when he gets talkative! Wasn’t very good planning on their part though, as it turns out we were moving on again in the morning and they were very tired!
Everyone was very sad to leave, but eventually after lots of hugs and goodbyes, we all set off. Some of us attempted a convoy but daddy wasn’t very good at keeping up with the others as he’s not very good at towing yet! Bless him! Until next time……..Love & Licks, Rosie xxx
