Radnage – Home for Christmas
Warning – Mummy got a new camera lens for Christmas…. So lots of photos in this post, and it covers three weeks, so best get a cuppa! We arrived back at Radnage for Christmas (http://www.bellavistacamping.co.uk/home/) and only got a little bit stuck this time. However, it was a different story when Nanny, Harley & Belle arrived. Nanny got her little car and caravan stuck, so Daddy came to the rescue. He did look funny towing a little van!
Then we went rushing off to pick up the turkey, collect the post from Nanny and Grandads and then we stayed home with Nanny whilst Mummy and Daddy went out for a curry with the kickboxing crew. Seems they had a good night out and totally forgot about the campsite curfew. Luckily Nanny was looking after us! When they got home, Mummy got out her new lens and had a practice on scratchy, as you can see he was not impressed!
Yay its Christmas eve, so Mummy found another decoration and then we headed out to Nanny and Grandads to wrap all of our presents up, whilst Daddy worked. Mummy hid upstairs wrapping them so we must have lots of presents, cos we have been really good this year, or at least I have, not so sure on Jim!
Grandad wanted Mummy to try out her new lens, so we went for a walk over the sheep fields, and some of the sheep were willing to pose
However, she did behave for Mummy eventually after lots of tongue sticking out photos
Then we went back and Mummy took a photo of a dove in the garden who popped down to say hello. Then we went home for some yummy bacon Daddy had cooked for a Christmas eve treat with Nanny, after she got stuck in the mud, again!
Christmas Day wahoo!! However, something is wrong…..there are no presents for us…..we put our stockings out and everything, we are protesting so refused to get out of bed.
However, we did eventually get up and were rewarded with a really long walk round Cadsden and Coombe Hill, but it was really muddy. Daddy proposed to Mummy at the Coombe Hill Monument Christmas Day 1999, so we always go back so he can ask her again, and make sure she still says yes! In the Chequers estate there was a cow hiding under the tree who was really cute. Other than that the walk was not much fun as it was so wet and muddy and really long and we still hadn’t had any presents! Then we went home and had lots of pressies with Nanny, Harley & Belle, ate far too much and then were scared to death by some fireworks going off. Mummy hadn’t given us our medicine so we were petrified. Why oh why on Christmas day??
On Boxing day, we went for a lovely run with the group from Cadsden and it was surprisingly a lot less muddy than yesterday. Then we all went to Nanny & Grandads for our traditional Boxing Day feast with lots of pressies. Nanny Trouble and Auntie Julie was there too which was lovely. Unfortunately, Nanny June wasn’t there as she is now in a home, but it was nice to see Auntie Julie being so independent. Harley & Belle were allowed in to play as well, which was fun, six dogs in the lounge, as Mummy accidently let us all in from the kitchen. I have to say we were all very well behaved though! On Sunday we had a lie in, then went for a walk round Coombe Hill with Nanny, Harley & Belle, watched Despicable Me and then had bubble and squeak with Nanny. Scratchy was feeling a bit left out, but spent most of the time sleeping!
On Monday we went round to Mummy’s brother to see all the children and for Mummy and Daddy to meet their 17 year old Niece, who they hadn’t seen since she was a few months old. It was great to meet her and so lovely that she had decided to find her dad after all these years. We do love a happy ending! We couldn’t go in though as they have 2 dogs and lots of smaller animals that we like to eat, so we waited in the car. When we got home Jim was very tired.
On Tuesday Mummy and Daddy had to go to a customer meeting so we played ball first, but I wouldn’t give the ball back hehe!
Mummys favourite chinchilla was pleased to see her too!
and Jim was tired again, he does like the new teddies Nanny and Grandad got us, shame he’s ripped the noses off them both already! Although he could’ve been hiding from the wind as it was really bad!
On Wednesday the wind had been so bad overnight and was still really bad so Nanny, Harley and Belle decided not to travel to Dartmoor, or in fact travel anywhere, so they stayed another day. Mummy and Daddy had to go to customer meetings again and then Daddy went to meet the satellite man late at night to collect the now working equipment. So now its New Years Eve, and we really don’t like New Years Eve cos of all the fireworks. Mummy was on the case though and dosing us up ready.
Nanny, Harley and Belle decided to go home today, rather than Dartmoor, Belle is ready to go
and so is Harley. I think they wanted to stay with us longer. I know Nanny certainly did! To avoid getting stuck again, Daddy towed Nanny off and then they all headed home.
Mummy was playing about with her camera and the Red Kites again, and this time got a half decent shot, shame she missed the tips of the wings!
Then we played ball again! We love playing ball! Well I like to chase the ball, Jim seems a little confused and just chases me…..dumb dog!
Afterwards we went round Nanny and Grandads so Daddy could do some work on the car with Grandad, and Mummy could practice taking photos of all the birds
Then we had fish and chips, although Nanny was ill so she went to bed. We got home fairly early and were tucked up in bed before the fireworks started. The tablets must’ve worked though as Jim and I were a lot calmer this year. Hooray to Adaptil! Molly and Daisy don’t seem bothered by fireworks and just spent the night curled up on the sofa!
New Years Day = Birthdays for me and Jim! Yay! So I’m now officially 10 and Jim is just 5! So as a birthday present we decided to go to Watlington Hill for a lovely long walk. Unfortunately, it appears so did half the country, as it was rammed. Cars abandoned on the side of the road, it was a mess, so we went down to the bottom of the hill and parked at the ridgeway. This didn’t bother us as we like climbing hills! We went for a really long walk, and when we got back everyone else had gone home…..lightweights! What Mummy hadn’t told us though, was tomorrow was Saturday which means running club…..as you can see I really didn’t want to get out of bed!
After the run we went to Nanny and Grandads to clean up. I think Daisy was pleased to see us even if Nanny and Grandad weren’t. We were very wet and muddy when we arrived after the run. Then we went for a walk with Nanny Carol in the pouring rain and mud up at Ashridge. I don’t think any of us enjoyed it but it was nice to see Nanny Carol and we even saw the deer, but it was so wet we couldn’t get any photos.
Finally, this is what Sundays are for…. we had a duvet day. Mummy and Daddy even had champagne to celebrate the new year, and we just chilled out all day which was lovely as it was raining again!
On Monday, Mummy and Daddy had to work again, as everyone was back to work after the Christmas holidays, but that didn't stop Mummy taking photos of the kites again
and us having a few games of ball
On Tuesday, Daddy had an all day meeting so we went to Nanny and Grandads for the day so Mummy spent the day photographing the birds on the new perch Grandad had put by the feeders. This robin was coming in to land
Here he is closer up, cheeky chappie!
When Mummy stopped taking photos, I think her batteries died, we all went in for a cuddle on the sofa, but there was a bit of a queue
Then Mummy and Daddy went kickboxing. On Wednesday Scratchy had to go to the vets to check his weight as he had lost weight when he went for a check up a few months back. This time his weight was stable and he got a clean bill of health
Then after lots of chores, we went to stay with Nanny, Harley and Belle whilst Mummy and Daddy went out to see Star Wars with Rox and Rik. They loved the film and by the time we got home I was very tired
On Thursday Mummy went with Nanny to see Nanny Trouble and then went to visit Nanny June, in the home, which was nice. Nanny June doesn’t remember who anyone is, but she loves having visitors. Then Mummy and Daddy went to see their Osteopath, Claire. That was an exciting visit as Claire announced she is pregnant, so Mummy and Daddy were very happy for her. Then on Friday Mummy and Daddy had to go to the dentist, Mummy needs more treatment again, then we went for a walk before going to customer meetings and seeing the chinchillas again! Then it was back to Nanny and Grandads for some more fish and chips!
On Saturday we went for a run with the club from The Lions at Bledlow, which was good fun and not too muddy, then Nanny and Grandad came to visit us in Pebbles. We were going to go for a walk, but there was a shoot on and we hate gun shots so we stayed home. Sunday was a nice day so we decided to explore Radnage, as we had never walked round the area. Mummy saw lots of red kites, and we stood around for ages waiting for her to photograph them.
Monday meant back to work, but the campsite is full of red kits so Mummy was out taking photos again!
Tuesday was a working day again, and Mummy managed to take a photo of some of the kites to try to show you all how many were around. We assume someone nearby was feeding them when they were in this frenzy.
This one decided to have a rest!
Then we emptied the tanks, ready for moving tomorrow and headed over to Nanny and Grandads with some last minute washing which Daisy was trying to help with
Then Mummy and Daddy went kickboxing whilst we stayed at Nanny and Grandads
Molly had nicked my cuddles with Nanny
On the back roads, Mummy and Daddy kept seeing an owl, so on the way home Mummy tried to get a photo of it on her phone, but as you can see it didn’t really work!
So it’s time to head off and yet again we got stuck in the mud, but after several attempts of unhitching and using metal grates for grip, we were finally off the field and heading off to Dorset. It’s been a lovely 3 weeks, but we are looking forward to getting back to the seaside. Until next time, Love & Licks, Rosie xxxx
