Scratchy immediately wanted a walk as the sun was out.
Then we all, well apart from King Scratchy, went for a walk to the beach over the road and it was great fun. We even went in the water…well we showed willing anyway.
On Thursday we went for a drive and found a beach at Port Patrick which had some lovely views. It was really funny though, as some other people had just left the beach and Jim was haring around, like he does, and he chased after me but didn’t see that they had dug a really big hole and it was full of water. It was like something out of a cartoon, he was running along and then he was neck deep in water and he did squeal like a girl! Bless him, he managed to get out of it on his own though which is at least something, and then he continued to chase me! Now I’m not saying it was deliberate or anything, but I had already spotted the hole when he started to chase me!
On Friday we went for a run and a swim, but it wasn’t very eventful. Saturday more than made up for that though! We decided to go to the Galloway Forest, and when we got there, there was this guy broken down in the car park, so daddy helped him get his bonnet open and check everything was ok (there were lots of tie wraps holding things together, so just getting the bonnet open was an achievement!), and then him and his daughter went on their way. They were covered in midgie bites as they had camped there overnight. So off we went on our walk along the river, to the café for a pit stop, and then back along the hillside. Now whilst we were having tea and cake at the café, nanny mentioned the shop sold Smidge as a midgie repellent. Mummy and daddy hadn’t heard of it and mummy had brought Avon Skin so Soft with her, but nanny decided to go back and buy some Smidge, and we are so glad she did! As we were driving out of the forest, we came across a mother and daughter who had broken down (I know, it was our day for it!). Daddy obviously jumped out to help, which it was a good job he did, as it turned out neither of them had a mobile phone on them! So there was a noise coming from the front left wheel and the mum thought her walking aid (she had broken her leg so was using crutches as it was healing) had fallen under the car as she left the café and got into the wheel. It was making a horrendous noise if she tried to drive it. So mummy and daddy took the wheel off to have a look. At this point the midgies were getting really bad and the lady told us that this was a really bad spot for midgies so we all covered ourselves in nannys Smidge, and it seemed to stop them from biting! Eventually daddy found a stone caught between the brakes and the wheel, which he got out for them and they were so pleased. Then we carried on our journey, thought we came across another breakdown, but turns out they were looking at the birds…phew! So we headed home. Mummy was so grateful to nannys Smidge, as she had lots of bites from before she put the smidge on and from patches she missed, like through the side vents of her walking trousers and round her waist and ankles! She did look very spotty and itched like mad at night and kept us awake! On Sunday we went for a drive round and went to the mull of Galloway to see the lighthouse and have some lunch in the café!
Then we stopped at Port Logan on the way back for a walk on the beach, but it wasn’t as nice as the beach by the site, so when we got back we went for a run and a swim and even saw a seal!
On Monday we were trying to pack up as we were moving on to Loch Lomond but Scratchy didn’t get the memo!
When we were ready to leave though, the electric jack broke again and we were stuck! Nanny was ready to go, but she decided to stay and make sure we were OK. Off came the bed again and daddy replaced the fuse with the new expensive one he had been meaning to replace and adjusted some wiring in the jack itself and we were good to go. Mummy put the bed back together again and we were all done within an hour and back on the road.
We were in a bit of a rush though as daddy was due to catch a train to Newcastle once we got there…..tune in next time to see if he made it! Until next time, love & licks Rosie xxxxx
