So after a very, very long drive (mummy and daddy were still feeling very ill), we finally arrived at a site near Mallaig (http://www.sunnysidetouringsite.co.uk/). They had lots and lots of rules and were very strict and mummy said it was very expensive, but it was the only site that had vacancies. It was nice enough and a short walk to the beach so we liked it! When we went for a walk on the beach we looked over to the next bay and saw another Airstream! Mummy knew it must be Annie and David so we all went over to say hello. They are heading to the Airstream meet as well. There are 7 Airstreams in total all heading to North Uist and we are all getting closer and closer! Whilst we were talking to them it started raining, so we rushed back to our site. Didn’t want mummy and daddy’s man flu getting any worse did we!
On Tuesday mummy went shopping and saw a lovely beach but by the time daddy had finished working, the tide had come in so we decided to save that beach for another day. We managed to get out on our beach though during low tide, with mummy.
and we had a play with the sheep on route!
Mummy and daddy were still feeling rubbish on Wednesday, but we managed to persuade them to go to the other beach, but the tide was in again and it was rubbish. I want to see it when the tides out! I really complained and didn’t want to get back in the car, so we went for a walk on our beach when we got home.
and then we went for another walk when the tide was out
Jimmy had lots of fun playing in the sea
On Thursday we went for a walk on our beach whilst the tide was in
and then, finally, we made it to the other beach (Sgeir Mhòr) whilst the tide was out…wahoo!!
However, after walking for quite a while I thought it looked like we were heading back so I decided that wasn’t going to happen and tried to go a different way. Unfortunately, I didn’t quite think things through properly, and my other way, involved a small river and you know how much I hate water. I wasn’t going to lose this fight though so I had to try and swim
Even though Jim was on my side, the water got too deep and I just couldn’t swim, so I had to turn back. I was not impressed though, so I caused chaos all the way back to the car trying to find different ways to walk that didn’t take us to the car!
Finally though mummy and daddy got me back to the car and we went down the road to Mallaig. We timed our visit perfectly, thanks to all of my detours on the beach, and we saw the famous steam train at the station
Friday was a very strange day as there was a lot of talk about the referendum and lots of people were shocked about the result. I didn’t get it, but Scratchy seemed to be in deep thought about whether the world was going to end or not
We went for another walk on our beach and I decided I prefered our beach, mainly because it didn’t involve a car ride! Jim was in his element rolling in the sand
and I found some seaweed that was a bit like a stick and decided to kill it
We went for an evening walk too, to see the sunset on the beach which was nice
The view from Pebbles wasn’t quite as nice!
On Saturday we had a quick walk on the beach before packing up and heading off to the ferry. Big adventure today as we are getting the ferry to Skye…..will Pebbles ground? Will we freak out on the boat? What will mummy do with Scratchy during the crossing? All will be revealed in the next instalment! Until next time, love and licks Rosie xxxx
