I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE REMASTERED GRIM FANDANGO!
I had heard the announcement by Sony when it first came out but made sure to file it deep into my "get excited for this later" mental compartment. And lo, I just checked GOG recently and was pleasantly reminded that it comes out in just under a week from today. Eeeeeeeee
I just watched all the documentaries of the remaster on the Double Fine website and I could not stop smiling throughout. I got shivers hearing the soundtrack reborn with orchestration. This game holds so many memories for me, and is the quintessence of my nostalgia of old games.
Roger Ebert had once said video games could never be art; I knew that when I encountered that quote for the first time, I felt that great pang of injustice and slight on behalf of Grim Fandango. It was lovingly crafted the first time, and you can tell what a labor of love it has been for a team and community of developers and fans alike. I can't put into words how much my anticipation has boiled over for the last decade and a half just waiting for this moment to culminate.
