Other kinds of mistakes can also exist in art works, some especially suited to digital works. This work is simply a collection of straight lines arranged in a spoke-pattern under rotation and translation transforms. Yet there exists star like features within the circle - patterns emerging from aliasing effects - essentially mistakes in the rendering of the image due to the limitations of digital signals.
And when the pattern shakes a secondary pattern emerges, with large, dark ring like structures appearing momentarily. These are moire patterns - and they aren't actually there. Take any individual frame of the gif and you won't be able to see them. Usually a moire pattern requires two grids to overlap in some form, but here there is a single pattern. Instead, the mind plays tricks on the viewer, blending the successive frames and creating the moire patterns for itself when none exist in reality.
See here for a clearer view of the moire patterns.
