"Dirty Old Town"
The Cowgate to this day still has that Old Town look and feel. Once named little Ireland because of Irish Immigrants lived in this area during Victorian times.
Lots of good Irish folk came to Scotland to find work, most of them worked on the union canal, especially one Mr William Burke and William Hare.
They carried out 16 murders over a period of about ten months in 1828.
