I am completely frustrated by WordPress. Plugins are a popular feature that cause endless suffering for the perfectionist. There is a cycle I know all too well by now. First, you search for the right plugin to make a specific feature possible, and just before you give up, the miracle plugin appears. This is followed by the honeymoon period, where you are thrilled with this new feature and tell everyone about this wonderful plugin. Next, a few months pass, and you find yourself wishing the miracle plugin would get a useful update. Then out of nowhere it happens; your site is broken in some horrible way and it's the miracle plugin's fault. It can happen in multiple tricky ways: a theme update could have made the plugin incompatible, your favorite developer of the magic plugin could have botched an update, or another plugin could now be interfering with this one! Doesn't that sound like a fun puzzle to solve?
The price you pay for the illusion of modular convenience is just not worth it.
