"Move me over there, I know I saw them come down." They signed to the angler. The two of them had been looking for about an hour in the deep dark, and Tash was about to call it quits. They would have to go and meet Sepha without the present, the perfect present for their love.
The friendly angler swung them over to where they had indicated, blinking in a sequence.
"It's for Sepha, She's having a hard time, ya know, with the distance. I can only go to her level at night, and I have so little time after hunting. With this, she can come visit me sometimes." Tash explained, a little shyly. It was a new love, but they had a hard time keeping it to themselves. The angler blinked three times quick. "Yes, ha ha, so funny. I know I'm silly, but it's important to me."
Tash narrowed their eyes and peered into the dark. Their own bioluminescence combined with the anglers was making a little easier to see.
There it was again! A glinty gold color. Tash signed to the angler to stay still, they were above the person. The gold helmet, the suit, it was perfect. Sepha would be able to fit all her tendrils into it and come down without hurting herself! Plus, the space in the helmet wouldn't ruin her beautiful hair. Tash lost themself momentarily thinking about brushing out those beautiful peach curls.
"Lower me down!" Tash signaled as urgently as she could. The angler blinked two long ones, and Tash realized she had signed the wrong thing, so she just pointed quick. Slowly, the angler lowered them closer to the visitor.
Tash was in their sights, and they threw up their hands in surprise, bubbles of air coming from their breathing apparatus. Tash put up their own hands. They knew humans were skittish, and they had to tread carefully. Fumbling, she pulled the woven seaweed pouch that they kept about their waist around and pulled out a piece of rock they had etched into. The human language was strange, but Tash was a lover of languages. She knew 20, including the Angler Sign/Blink Language.
They held it out to the human for them to take. It took a moment, but soon the human was stepping closer to the light cast out by both deep sea creatures to read what was said. The human's shoulders began to shake. Laughter. Tash felt momentarily hurt, but the human gave a thumbs up.
"Tash, what's this?" Sepha said in her twinkling soft voice, looking at the package wrapped in leaves that Tash had found drifting.
"A solution. You were so sad, and..I saw this diver and they agreed to help and.." Tash bit their lip as Sepha began to unwrap it. Dreaded moments passed as she looked it over. "Well?"
"Oh Tash!" Tash found themself wrapped in eight tentacles in a tight embrace. Sepha kissed them sweetly. "I love it. Best part is...it won't ruin my hair!"
