My imagery itself is not strongly humanistic or naturalistic, but the exaggeration of color therein is strongly related to the human condition. The pieces are not about life in the greater whole, but the internal longing and agony within all of us. The intangible quality is intended to be raw and visceral, whether evoking elation and pleasure or anger and melancholy. Abstraction appeals to me because there is no definitive image presented to the viewer, no certain expectation or answer. Each print is a metamorphosis unto itself. The application of ink and use of found materials creates fluidity and movement within the work. All of my prints are monotypes; therefore each image is inimitable and cannot be duplicated. The intention is that every work becomes its own unrestrained moment.
I have practiced printmaking for over a decade, working primarily with acid etched zinc and hand engraved plexiglass plates.
