Are you a jerk if you're driving and you don't let someone in? My friend argued you're not. You're a jerk if you cut them off. Though I can't help apologizing and feeling a bit shitty.
It had me wondering whether that was a distinction in our culture between men and women or whether it was a distinction in his character. He pointed out all the women in his life who agreed with me. To see someone and ignore them is rude.
Then is there a definite equal and opposite meaning for our actions (or inactions in this case)? I.e. if you are not polite, then are you rude? Can they be mutually exclusive? I still haven't found my answer.
