Colorful language comes in many forms. It's funny to me to see how much time and effort writers put into description using that thesaurus in their brain or the one found on the internet to say the same thing prettier. There is more to words than just their meaning. We use their sound, such as alliterations or ononomatopoeias. We set the rhythm. Short. Longer and longer still. Then we manipulate the senses-all of them. Then we manipulate our readers emotions, because a good piece is something that we feel.
