Just two months until I graduate with my Masters and install my thesis exhibition. Thank you, once again, for you patience and support.
Each of the drawings in this show is the result of about a hundred hours of work. These are, by far, the most elaborate and complex images I have ever worked on. Graduate school has been an interesting journey for me. The past two years have contained some of the best and worst moments of my life. Within the first year I created some works I’m proud of and some I’m just baffled by. In a way I was lost at sea
Now I am focused on one particular body of drawings and I am blown away by the results. These images communicate ideas I had come to believe were impossible. My technical skill has improved, my use of color has become more daring, and I have reached a calm understanding of my own role as a visual artist. I arrived here by my own volition and this is the work I have been attempting to make for the last ten years.
I have never felt more focused, healthy, or clear. I can not wait to share these explorations with the world. I view my drawings as ceremonial narratives, told for the purpose of healing and confronting mortality. My hope is that others can take some sense of love and reverence from them. Begin your own journeys.
The body is an ephemeral altar, a vulnerable prayer.
