Location, Location, Location
Another profile enhancement we’ve had in the works in now live (for web and Android, iOS coming soon): you can add a location to your profile. For now, your location will just serve to signal to fellow creators where you reside. In the future, we will tie the information into the Hire and Collaborate buttons, making it easier to find creators near you.
Head to your settings page and fill out your location.
P.S. You probably know, but as a reminder: Ello does not collect or sell any of our user’s data. We won’t do anything creepy with your location data, we promise.
Not For Print
We launched our own publication earlier this week, Not For Print.
I saw a tweet that said something like "Ello wants to revolutionize social media, launches magazine." Yes. Exactly.
We are dedicated to building the best opportunity platform for creators. Not just another social network. With tools like the Hire button, Collaborate button, Buy button, and the start to robust profile customization, we are well on our way to shaping the internet side of the opportunity platform.
We have already been taking this community offline in amazing collaborations with the likes of @spoonmagazine, @arkitip, @hifructose, and now we are launching our own publication.
Getting published in Not For Print (or our other collaborative publications) means more than seeing your work in print. We also give out straight up cash. There are art grants and community grants. Putting money in creators pockets.
The larger vision of Ello looks a lot more like a media company with networked e-commerce, publishing, hireability and social tools.
The theme of the first issue is Censorship. Submissions are open until the 27th. Submission guidelines can be found here.
Hi-Fructose x Ello
The submission deadline for Hi-Fructose x Ello ended last Sunday. The winners will be announced next week. So much awesome work, it is taking a bit to sort through it all! Hold tight.
Reminders
In case you missed it, last week we launched Featured Badges on profiles across all platforms (web, Android, and iOS). The new Ello iOS app (1.17) is also now available for download. It includes new profile designs as well as collaborate buttons. Read more here.
