When I was in second grade, Jason Witt would show me his penis in the lunch line. I was so shocked, I remember thinking it was fake. Even in elementary school, I realized that his behavior was inappropriate. He proceeded to flash me for a few days in a row. I informed my teacher who, at first refused to believe me, and finally told me to ignore him.
All my life, I have struggled to reclaim my sexuality and sensuality from people like him, but also from my parents, from religion, from the dirty boys at the back of the school bus, from the almost date raper, from my abusive ex-husband, from a stalker, from the art world, from social media, from people viewing my work, from censorship...the list is endless and the struggle continues.
