Ello all! Welcome to this weeks rendition of our Kickstarter Boardgame Campaign Review! We're currently working off borrowed equipment, but at least we were able to work this week. In doing so we've scraped together a decent lineup for you guys and gals. So without further adieu...
THIS WEEKS RINGER IS:
Madstone Chronicles - Hungry for #adventure? Madstone Chronicles is a army and engine building #card #game for two to four players. Build your #fantasy army!
Congrats to Joe Magic Games for making it. Not that they had to try really hard with a $33 goal. "A WHAT?" you ask? Yes a $33 goal. It seems that their production costs are next to nothing. Ha! j/k. Check out the description. It's all there. Just because they're funded, doesn't mean that you can't secure a copy today. Go and back them and get you chance to add this to your collection.
FIRST ON THE WANTED LIST:
Mad Scientists! - Test your patience with this 2-6 player family card game!
Were you the kid that had a #chemistry set when you were little? Or are you the kid that set your house on fire with your chemistry set when you were little? Depending on your answer, you might want to check this game out. This game looks like quite a bit of quick and easy fun to enjoy when you have a bit of spare time (you know, like when you take a break from building liquid fire bombs in your #basement).
This campaign isn't doing too well at the moment. It has accumulated only ~$200 of a $10,000 goal. We believe it's due, in part, to the horrible intro video of a guy blabbing at a camera for a minute or two in what appears to be the dining room of his moms house. Despite this, the game looks quite solid and entertaining and we suggest you check it out for yourselves and back it should you be so inclined.
The War of the Nine Realms - The Mighty Clash of the #Norse #Realms, meeting in a final epic fight for total supremacy of all the Nine Realms.
This game seems to be well thought out, fun, and engaging. In following with any #mythology based game, war seems to have broken out and it's up to you to be victorious! So you'll gather your #heroes and #fight across the 9 Realms to attain #victory. Wait...what? There's only 4 playable realms? You're sure? The game says 9! Hmm....ok. I guess you'll be fighting only among 4 of the 9 Realms...that seems less epic, but still interesting enough.
This campaign looks like it's on a good track. With 28 days left, it's already managed to make $2,340 of its
$13,192 goal. That puts the game trending to make about 274% of it's total goal. If you'd like to see this number become a reality and also secure a copy of this very nice (albeit a little dishonest) game!
LAST ON THE WANTED LIST:
Infusion: The Game, a Sci-Fi Fantasy Deckbuilding Card Game - A #deckbuilding game where you control #scifi versions of classic literary characters. Choose a Hero, Recruit help, Run Missions, win!
We're not big fans of deckbuilding games and actively avoid posting about them. This is due to the fact that deckbuilding games usually fall into the realm of whoever has the #money to pay for an entire box of #expansions so that they may sift through and take the good cards, while still loading up on the throw away pawn #monsters usually wins. That's when it becomes a "$$ = victory" scenario and we do not appreciate this. However, this game caught our eye and for good reason. The artwork looks great, the #gameplay looks solid, and the premise is quite an interesting take on the usual fantasy style #motif.
This campaign is looking at a $70,000 goal, but so far has only raised $2,862. This has it trending to only 29% of the posted goal by the end of the campaign. We hope this doesn't happen and that this game is place on the shelves within the year. So go out and back this one. If you don't we wont get to play it and that makes us sad.
AND FINALLY, THIS WEEKS LEMON:
bitches (a dice game) - bitches (a dice game) is easy to learn & fun to play. It's the perfect game to take anywhere. Can you roll a drunken stranger?
OK...so we hate that we had to pick this game as our lemon, but we thought it needed to be made an example of so that other games would see it's humiliation and not make the same mistakes. So this week we're breaking it down.
1. THE NAME - seriously? You picked this to be the name of your game? "A dice game" would've worked better! That's just dumb!
2. WTF IS IT? - In all the wonderful stick figure animation, you forgot to mention what the game actually was. At this point all we know is it is "a dice game"
3. THE NAME - We're sorry to touch on this more than once, but come on! We're not saying that we don't have potty mouths; we do! However, we don't use language in front of those we do not know. And to use a word that disparages a little more than half the ENTIRE human population for your game name is just stupid.
4. DISCLAIMER, REALLY? - The following is an excerpt from the description (which by the way lacked any explanation of what the game actually is or how to play), "I do not intend to offend anyone with the use of the word bitches; this is intended to be a very celebratory phrase! I love all people." Little tip: IF YOU HAVE TO PUT A DISCLAIMER, YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT WHAT YOU'VE SAID IS GOING TO PISS PEOPLE OFF. SO DON'T DO IT! It's the same as saying, "No offense, but..." and following that with an insult of some type.
Unfortunately, this campaign is only asking for $3,000 and already has garnered $940 of it with 25 days to go. They may just make it, we hope not, but you can't win every battle. We're keeping our fingers crossed though.
BONUS THIS WEEK:
BITBOX: Space Saving, Easy Traveling, Board Game Storage - The future of board game #storage. A space saving, easy traveling, super affordable, board game storage #solution.
We @nerdstylegames thank you for your patience with us as we sort out our technical difficulties and for that we show our appreciation with this product review of the BITBOX. The only thing we have to say is wow. If you've amassed a collection of #boardgames over the years and know what it's like to have no space for more, then this is the item for you.
The campaign has been successful in already raising twice as much as needed, but there's still plenty of time to back the project and get your own set so that you can compress your ever expanding library of cardboard and plastic fun!
That's all for this week. Until next time...
Keep leveling up #NERDS!
