Hello nerds! We still are without a bear to do all our dirty work, but this week it’s back to form.
So prepare your brains for total mind blowing information. . . Ok, maybe not mind blowing. Just the normal kind of things that happen to the mind when one reads. So we hope you enjoy.
Nerdy Inventions: The Crazy Inventions Dice Game - #Nerdy Inventions is the 30 minute invention game for 2-4 players that packs a big #strategic punch in a small package!
First off…. its got Nerd in the title. So of course it’s the ringer for the week. We’ve got a lot of #tinkering background here @nerdstylegames what with tiny gadgets to make daily life easier (many of which involve some form of #Lego contraption). We also appreciate #games that employ copious amounts of #dice since we regard dice as being the first step in creating an infinite improbability drive. All of this in an elegant game that looks quite fun and replayable for quite some time, how could we resist?
So congrats to Seth Hiatt for raising $14,433 at the time of this review. There are 19 days left in the campaign, so plenty of time to go and secure a copy of what will definitely be a great add or starting point to anyone's game collection.
FOR OUR WANTED THIS WEEK, ITEM #1:
Neverland's Legacy - Neverland’s Legacy is a #cooperative #skirmish game that pits Peter Pan and friends against Hook and his Pirates! The next #Legacy game!
If you’ve already played and enjoy Albion’s Legacy & Sherwood’s Legacy then you may want to check out the newest addition to the Legacy family. This variant of the Legacy games bring a whole new side of play to things. Now you are able to command not only the #heroic side of things, but also take part in swash-buckling #villainy by playing as Captain Hook or one of his many fellow pirates. In all honesty, we believe there is only one Captain Hook and that’s #DustinHoffman (if you don’t get it then we’re too old). But you can try your hand at being the infamous pirate. Who knows you may just end up being good at it.
This campaign was set to be only 20 days long. It has already raised 56% ($15,918 CAD) of the total goal with 16 days left to go. So go and see if you can help with getting this game funded and reach as many stretch goals as possible.
Lairs: Build Your Lair, then Defend It With Your Life - A great #power lies in deep in the #earth. A band of #heroes, #monsters, and #royalty race for it. Can you claim it? If so, can you keep it?
At first glance this game sounded a bit complicated, but after watching further into the intro video the picture began to take form and we began to see the potential that this game really had. The game mechanic is unique and it takes King-of-the-Mountain to a whole new level. We’d definitely like to see this one on the shelves at the local game store.
With 27 days left in the campaign they’ve pretty much sealed the deal as far as making it. This project has garnered 73% of the established goal to be fully funded with a grand total of $7,378. So we’re not too worried whether or not it’ll be funded. We just thought it would be nice to inform you of a great game and investment opportunity.
FINAL GAME ON THE WANTED LIST:
HERO - A cooperative #boardgame featuring transparent cards. Players must prepare a Hero to defeat the beasts destroying the #kingdom.
This is the #RPG / #card game for all those who never felt like they were the hero type. The title is almost misleading in a way, since you nor any of your friends are actual heroes. By the by, this game is quite interesting and unique in that it brings together everyone at the table to help an #NPC to defeat the great danger that threatens the land. Usually it is the other way around. Wow....isn't your mind blown? No? Oh well....worth a try.
This campaign has 29 days left so theres plenty of time to back it. They currently have 17% which makes a total of €1,240. It doesn’t seem like much, but it trending to make more than double what they’re shooting for (€7,000). So lets help them get there and possibly farther.
AND THE LEMON OF THE WEEK GOES TO:
Odd versus Even - A 2-8 person game where each player has to figure out who their allies are and how to (cunningly) eliminate their enemies.
This lemon of a game looks like it would be a great thing with a bit of tweaking, but the owner got a little over zealous. Now we have our lemon of the week. Firstly, the presentation, as with most lemons, is lacking. There is no intro video and the picture reads, “ODD x EVEN” and looks like someone just learned how to use Photoshop about a week ago and made a text effect on a cloudy background. There are a few instructions in the description, but they keep referencing a map that isn’t pictured, therefore we have no idea what kind of situation in which the player tokens would find themselves. Not to mention the whole “no talking” part of the game. So usually when you play a game it is to encourage social interaction. I understand the need for secrecy in the game, but not talking to one another seems like it would make for a very not fun time. There is an “Out Loud” version of play, but it seems like an afterthought more than anything.
So far they have $25. It’s not looking too good for this lemon. The creator of this game states that they’re more of a video game designer. We honestly think that they should have done a bit more research before they began this project and started this campaign. Maybe they make it, maybe they don’t. If they don’t, they might be able to fix some aspects of the game and relaunch. Only time will tell.
That’s it for the week. Until next time…
Keep leveling up #NERDS!
