Do you love music?
Do you love mostly instrumental music?
Does the music in films and tv shows move you?
... the music that sets the tone, the mood, fires you up, or calms things down, adds emotion, sadness, happiness, darkness, sunshine.
Ambient Music is all of those things.
Do you love it when an artist stretches out and does an instrumental track that evolves and layers on textures and longer drawn out passages - takes their time?
Do you hear songs and wish they went on longer?
Do any of these names ring a bell? They've all done ambient - or blended it with their electronic stuff in wonderful ways.
