This photo showing the "Car-Port roof" of our house was found in a photography book by 'Selwyn Pullan' featuring "Mid Century West Coast Modernism". The house shown on the upper right is the house of our neighbour which is a "Heritage House", meaning that it can never be 'torn down'. It was the home of the architect Duncan McNab. The photograph in the book was taken back in 1956 By Selwyn Pullan. Our "Car-Port roof can be seen on the upper left hand side(with the same white drain pipe) of the photo.
The large photo below was taken by me today in 2016 (60 years later) from the same position on our property; the only difference being a hedge, more 'greenery' on the 'Rock' and a higher wall built for the later added on swimming pool . Time is cool, and cruel.
(-The house is next to us and I found the book on 'Modernism' at the library. I just "reenacted " the photo in the book from the same spot.)
*(For those who do not know where this pic was taken: It was taken in on 'Westmount Road' in West Vancouver, Canada ...still a beautiful place).
Here's the same iPhone pic 60 years later (larger) :
