Tiroas. . . . "I'm a very selfish person"
Someone recently asked me, "have I ever considered shooting with a group of people. . . Doing a meetup?"
I've considered it, I just wouldn't do it. The reason for that is, photography (I'm going to be selfish here) is all about me! My time, my images, my places. Plus, it's my zen.
Day in, and day out we are bombarded with information from around the globe, some important, which we should know about, others. . . . A pile of Horse manure that we can do without. You can try your best to filter out the noise, but it has a habit of squeezing through the cracks.
When I shoot and edit, I don't need to worry about someone standing over my shoulder, or if they've finished doing what they're doing and now they're waiting on me. It's (all mine) my time, my time to shoot, smoke, listen to my music, hell I could walk around in circles shouting "I'm Batman".
I'm happy to talk about photography with anyone, but to shoot with another person, or group of people. No thank you, not unless there is an understanding. That while photographing, we are left to our own devices. The only time that rule can be broken (and I don't believe in rules when it comes to photography, just guidelines) is if someone needs help.
So to summarise, I'm a very selfish person. . . But only when it comes to capturing that image. . . And mint and chocolate chip ice cream
