A Quick Refresher on Ello’s Community Guidelines
Happy Friday, y’all.
There’s been a lot of conversation lately about social networks and moderation of art on the internet. In the face of shifts for online creative communities, we're here to let you know that Ello is dedicated to offering a home to artists and creators to promote, discuss, and find inspiration.
Ello is a Creators First community built by creators, for creators. We hear you, and we see you. In an effort to provide Creators with an open and inclusive community, we’re taking a minute to remind you what makes Ello’s Community Guidelines and Policies unique.
Already seasoned on our Community Guidelines? Discover some new art and, you know, support your fellow creators.
What does Ello accept?
Ello accepts art that is provocative, mind-expanding, cutting-edge and authentic. Art can be daring and we’ve always strived to highlight that this includes adult content. Just make sure you turn the “Posts NSFW” button on in your Account Settings to respect members of the community that may not be into adult-related content.
How can you be a friendly member of the Ello community to fellow creators? Easy. Mark your work NSFW, and check out what constitutes as NSFW work:

If you regularly post and/or view adult content, you can adjust your Account Settings to reflect adult-related posts on Ello. You’ll automatically earn a dope badge that lets other folks know you post adult content.
We consider a pretty wide range of things to be allowed, adult-related content:
- Artistic Expression
- Fetish Art (no harm or violence)
- Inanimate objects (food in sexual positions, shapes, cartoons, sculptures, etc.)
We get it. Sometimes stuff slips through the cracks.

If you see something that conflicts with our Community Guidelines, head to the profile header and select the 3 “dots” icon to block, flag or mute. We may not respond to every direct communication of a post flag, but we see them and address them as quickly as possible. By doing this, you ensure that it gets reviewed ASAP and that Ello continues to be a healthy community for all Creators.
We also may send you a note if we feel that your profile doesn’t need to be toggled as posting adult-related content.
