Meet The Artists
Earlier this year we worked with our partners Talenthouse to share a dope Creative Invite that gave three artists the chance to travel to Crete to create murals at the Cook's Club hotel.
Get to know the artists creating murals at the Cook’s Club hotel in Crete, in partnership with our friends at Talenthouse.
Meet Sergiy Tsimbaliuk "Normski"
Sergiy has a passion for street art, and has assisted the likes of street artists Fintan McGee, Okuda San Miguel and James Reka on painting large wall mural, and also subway trains.
About his piece: A striking image of a girl wrapped up in a beach towel. Use of Cook’s Club brand colours is very bold - a real stand out feature on the wall.
You can follow Sergiy on Instagram and Behance.
Meet CuRu Miyuki Okada
Miyuki studied Visual Communication Design at Musashino Art University in Toyko and since 2009 has been working freelance as a graphic designer in The Netherlands. She has also worked on murals before in Japan.
About her piece: She was very motivated by this opportunity as she is Inspired by Japanese Novelist Haruki Murakami who makes reference to Crete in his novels “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle” and “Crete Kanou”. The dolphins in the piece draw on the dolphin frescoes on display at Crete’s Knossos Palace, and also reminded her of the Dolphin hotel in “A Wild Sheep Chase” by Haruki Murakami. She also added the delphinium as it is not only her favourite flower, but it also derives from the Ancient Greek language.
You can follow her on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and on her website.
Meet Mark Walters
Mark Walters is a British designer currently living in Leicester. He has been working as a designer for seven years, with his main passions being typography and the use of bold vibrant colours.
About his piece: Something that is both Instagrammable and would make people smile in the hotel. Making use of his typography skills with the inclusion of the quote “YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE” on the wall - uplifting and fun to coincide with the hotels brand.
You can follow Mark on Instagram and his website.
Stick around - we'll be sharing progress on their murals soon.
